I am currently about halfway through the first draft of my second novel, and now that I'm off work for the next couple of months, I am looking to belt the rest out within the next few weeks.

The Aid centres around a grieving mother who is in need of a cochlear after being involved in an accident which results in permanent hearing loss. But once she makes the purchase and gets the aid activated, she begins perceiving eerie whispers through her device, leading her to believe that her recently deceased husband is trying to contact her from beyond the grave, for whatever reason.

Unlike previous stories, I had settled on the title once I crafted the plot. Although I don't consider myself a pantser and outline big scenes prior to beginning the manuscript, I still leave room for discovery and am open to adjusting ideas, as long as they don't significantly change the story's direction.

The Aid will be a take on the classic haunted house ghost story. It will contain some dark themes and the language may present itself as more vulgar. Overall, it will be rawer and grittier than my previous work, Soil for Beacons, and will be told in a single POV in present tense, complete with a plethora of juicy twists. Some edgy illustrations will also be included in this novel. My aim is to think bigger picture with this release, both in depth and length of the novel and on the marketing front.

But actions speak louder than words, and words are cheap unless elegantly structured on a piece of paper otherwise known as a working manuscript. So on we write...
